What Is Coming to Xbox Game Pass in September 2026?

The September 2026 Wave 2 lineup was announced by Xbox on September 15. One of the biggest attractions is Gears of War: E-Day, arriving October 6 as a day-one Game Pass title. Gears of War: E-Day

Release date: October 6, 2026
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud and supported handheld devices
Game Pass: Day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass

Gears of War: E-Day takes players back 14 years before the original Gears of War. The campaign follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during the catastrophic Emergence Day, when the Locust Horde erupts from below and humanity faces a desperate fight for survival. For longtime fans, the prequel setting makes this one of the most important upcoming Gears releases.

Minecraft Dungeons II

Release date: September 29, 2026
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud, handheld, Steam, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
Game Pass: Day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass

Minecraft Dungeons II expands the dungeon-crawling formula with a new story, the Sift dimension, unexplored lands, tougher enemies and deeper equipment customization. Xbox says the sequel keeps the approachable co-op spirit of the original while adding more mechanical depth. The game also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing eligible players to move between Xbox and PC without buying it twice.

Dune: Awakening

Xbox release: September 22, 2026
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud and supported handheld devices
Game Pass: Coming to Game Pass

Dune: Awakening brings its open-world survival experience to Xbox on September 22. Players can explore Arrakis, build bases, craft equipment and experience a cinematic Dune story. Xbox describes the console release as a definitive version that includes the substantial improvements and content added to the PC edition over time. PvP is optional, with the game supporting a full PvE experience.

Other Game Pass Highlights

The second half of September also includes Routine and Ultimate Sheep Raccoon on September 16, Kernel Hearts and Ninja Gaiden 4 on September 17, and several additional titles heading into early October. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 also expands its Game Pass availability on September 25.

Why This Wave Matters

This is more than a routine monthly update. Game Pass is receiving a mix of major first-party-style action, cooperative dungeon crawling, survival gameplay and Japanese action RPGs. The combination gives subscribers several very different reasons to keep the service active through the end of September and into October.
